Pleasanton
Pleasanton, California is a community located in the San Francisco Bay area, approximately 25 miles South East of San Francisco and 25 miles North East of San Jose (Silicon Valley). Originally a rough and tumble Western town known as Alisal (1850s), Pleasanton was incorporated in 1894.
With a population exceeding 70,000 people, Pleasanton enjoys excellent weather as it sits on the boundary of the SF Bay area Mediterranean climate and the Central Valley desert climate. It's conveniently located at the Eastern end of BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), a 50 minute ride into downtown San Francisco, a 40 minute drive to Silicon Valley/San Jose, an hour drive (or BART ride) to the San Francisco airport (SFO), and three hours to Tahoe or Yosemite. Neighboring communities in the Tri-Valley are Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon, and Sunol.
Often listed near the top of 'Best Places to Live' surveys, Pleasanton has a diverse population, nationally top ranked schools, a major upscale mall (Stoneridge), a thriving business community, and a major business park (Hacienda).
